I just took down my old wash house recently and have a big stack of junk wood now I was going to slowly start throwing out. Now I can reuse all that wood to make these wood planters, plus they will look and remind me of our old wash house!

Re: Build-It-Yourself: Wood Patio Planter

Great idea regarding the wine barrels. I've also had luck finding pallets for free via Craigslist but if you've gottem at work then you should be set. I imagine you can get even more imaginative with these than Danny's plans suggest. Adding a little paint would also do wonders. Send us some pics if you do end up building some.

Re: Build-It-Yourself: Wood Patio Planter

Its a great idea! Half cut wine barrels are $30-$40 here in SoCal. My work has tons of wooden pallets sitting around. I can build up a few of these in an afternoon for FREE. Would be excellent for growing potatoes if built deep enough. With the right sizes I might even build one big enough to handle a dwarf apple tree. Lots to think about. I have not had the time to come up with ideas like this that save money. Thanks.
